ABOUT ME
Hello, I'm Zak, a recent graduate in Software Engineering at Concordia University. Anytime there’s a challenge to solve or a problem to overcome, I will take it as a chance to learn new cool stuff and expand my skillset.
EXPERIENCE

- Refactored application components using hexagonal architecture to loosely couple business logic and infrastructure, making components exchangeable at any level and facilitating test automation
- Optimized a sequence of API calls by implementing event-driven processing with Kafka, reducing overall user latency from 6 seconds to under 2 seconds.
- Created real-time dashboards in Datadog to monitor main services, providing performance insights and enabling quick detection of bottlenecks during new feature development.

- Reduced CI/CD pipeline execution time by 50% by parallelizing independent stages and caching Maven dependencies using a shared volume across runs.
- Proactively identified and remediated 27+ security vulnerabilities and outdated dependencies across several repositories, strengthening overall application security.

- Optimized large diamond data queries by implementing pagination and image compression reducing querying time by ~4 seconds.
- Built a Python web scraper with Selenium, integrated into a Django app to fetch and filter 1,000+ diamond records weekly, reducing manual selection time from 1 week to 1 day.
